Since launching the Kubestronaut program at KubeCon Paris in 2024, the community has grown faster than expected. Today, more than 570 professionals have reached an even higher bar: Golden Kubestronaut status.

Becoming a standard Kubestronaut is already a solid achievement, requiring all five core Kubernetes certifications (KCNA, KCSA, CKA, CKAD, and CKS). The Golden Kubestronaut track goes further by covering the broader Linux Foundation and CNCF ecosystem.

What makes the Golden status different?

To earn the Golden title, candidates must pass every active certification offered by the CNCF at the time they complete the program. Beyond core Kubernetes administration and security, this includes specialized tracks like CAPA, PCA, OTCA, and any new exams added to the catalog.

The defining feature of this status is that the bar keeps rising for newcomers.

As cloud native technologies mature, the CNCF regularly introduces new certifications to cover emerging domains. This means the requirements to achieve Golden status become more demanding over time. Yet, despite a constantly moving target, community growth hasn’t slowed down. More than 570 engineers have pushed through the expanding list of exams to reach the top.

What comes with Golden status?

Beside validating broad expertise across orchestration, security, observability, and cloud native architecture, Golden Kubestronauts receive:

A global network of practitioners

Golden Kubestronauts work across every segment of the industry from hyperscalers and global enterprise integrators to small engineering teams. They bring hands-on, practical expertise to real-world cloud native projects every day.

Thank you to all 570+ Golden Kubestronauts for your commitment to open source learning and technical proficiency.
