Spas Atanasov is a Manager of Site Reliability Engineering at MariaDB with more than 10 years of experience working with Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies. He is a Co-organizer of the Cloud Native Meetups in Bulgaria since 2018, where the community has grown from 20 to over 2000 members, and a Co-organizer of Kubernetes Community Days Sofia. He speaks at meetups and actively mentors people, helping them gain the confidence to step on stage and share their knowledge. His focus areas include Kubernetes at scale, SRE, Cloud Native, Observability, and Cost Optimization. He strongly believes in the power of community and the idea that sharing knowledge can change the way people think and work. Based in Sofia, Bulgaria, Spas enjoys baking sourdough bread, making barbecues, and cooking huge stacks of pancakes – but most of all, spending time with his family. He is also known for his favorite question: “Why?”. Why he is motivated: “I love seeing the spark of satisfaction in people’s eyes when I have helped them learn something or see things from a different perspective.”
