Supported by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), these community-organized events bring open source adopters and technologists together for high-impact technical education, collaborative networking, and local community building, all served with a unique regional flavor.

What’s New in 2027
Last year, CNCF introduced three tiers of KCDs to support communities of all sizes. We have updated the naming of these tiers a bit to better reflect the stages of the KCDs.
First-time KCDs> Tier 0 – up to 200 attendees, guaranteed CNCF funding, and dedicated program support- Tier 1 – returning events with 350 or more attendees, eligible for funding and monthly global organizer syncs
Tier 2> Independent – established events with up to 600 registrations, CNCF representation, and elevated branding
