The CNCF community represents the best of open source: innovative, passionate, diverse, and collaborative. It’s a community reshaping how the world runs software in production, and I’m excited to serve as the new Executive Director.
I want to take a moment to thank Priyanka Sharma for her leadership over the past five years. Under her guidance, CNCF has expanded its global reach, positively impacting countless organizations and people around the world. I’m grateful for the foundation she’s built and excited to carry this momentum forward.
As someone who’s spent more than 15 years building open source communities, I know firsthand the importance of maintaining trust, fostering open collaboration, and empowering maintainers and contributors. For me, leading CNCF is an opportunity to amplify these values at an even larger scale in support of the community that is fundamentally transforming technology and business worldwide.
It is also an opportunity to create unprecedented strategic alignment between the foundational infrastructure layer of OpenInfra, and the cloud native application layer of CNCF, two of the most important ecosystems in open source. For years, the industry has been working to bridge these worlds, and my dual role is designed to do exactly that— foster deeper collaboration, reduce friction, and create a more seamless experience for the developers and users who rely on both.
My long-term vision is for CNCF to remain the indispensable home for cloud-native innovation. This means doubling down on the community and governance frameworks that have made our projects the choice for modern enterprises and staying one step ahead of what’s coming next, including the massive scale and hardware complexity that come with operating AI platforms.
One of the initial priorities I have set for myself is to tune into the voices of maintainers, contributors, end users, and member organizations and understand where support is most needed. Engaging and listening helps me determine the best approaches to key decisions we are facing: how do we continue to scale our support for an ever growing number of projects, how do we determine the right integration points between cloud-native and other ecosystems, and how do we improve the scalability and security of these systems in production use? Feedback is the way, and I am all ears.
I look forward to working alongside Chris Aniszczyk and the entire CNCF leadership team to understand your needs, ensure transparency in our processes, and foster alignment around the work that matters most.
Our success won’t be measured simply by stars or downloads, but by the lasting impact we make as a community. Cloud native isn’t a passing trend; it’s the backbone of modern computing. Together, let’s continue to shape its future. Let’s build what’s next.
