Bryce will serve as executive director of CNCF and OpenInfra Foundation in dual role
SAN FRANCISCO, June 24, 2025 — The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization enabling mass innovation through open source, today announced the appointment of Jonathan Bryce as Executive Director, Cloud & Infrastructure and Chris Aniszczyk as CTO, Cloud & Infrastructure. Both will oversee the Linux Foundation’s largest cloud and infrastructure open source initiatives, including the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), where Bryce will also serve as Executive Director.
“Jonathan brings decades of experience building thriving open source communities at the intersection of infrastructure and innovation for the OpenInfra Foundation and Chris has done the same for the CNCF, ” said Jim Zemlin, Executive Director of the Linux Foundation. “Their combined leadership will instill new momentum across cloud native, infrastructure, and AI projects at the Linux Foundation, and ensure our communities and members continue to benefit from the most critical open source technologies on the planet.”
Adoption of open source software is central to competitive innovation, supported worldwide by a community of passionate and dedicated developers. As the leader of Cloud & Infrastructure for the Linux Foundation, Bryce will establish a foundational strategy that unites and elevates open source technologies that underpin everything from cloud native development to generative AI and digital strategies.
“The Linux Foundation is home to some of the most impactful technologies in the world, and ensuring the health, sustainability, and growth of these projects is my top priority,” said Bryce. “As the leader of Cloud & Infrastructure, I’ll work to nurture existing projects and identify new opportunities to solve emerging challenges in areas like AI, edge computing, and sustainable tech. I’m grateful for the opportunity and energized by the communities driving open source innovation.”
As CTO of Cloud & Infrastructure, Aniszczyk expands his role to serve banner Linux Foundation projects like OpenInfra, driving developer-facing initiatives, sharing successful lessons from the growth of CNCF with other organizations and broadening the impact of cloud and infrastructure technology, globally.
“The success of open source innovation begins and ends with developers and in this next phase of growth for the Linux Foundation, I will work to ensure that this group remains vibrant and our true north star,” said Aniszczyk. “I’m thrilled to grow my sphere of influence, working with new communities, technologies and organizations that share my dedication to open source.”
As Executive Director of the CNCF, Bryce will guide the more than 200 projects under the foundation. He will work with the foundation’s 700+ members to facilitate collaboration and engagement within the cloud native community. Bryce will also remain the Executive Director of the OpenInfra Foundation, home of the OpenStack project, emphasizing the shared impact both foundations have on driving the adoption of open source infrastructure to support AI, edge, and cloud native workloads.
“I see enormous collaboration potential between CNCF and OpenInfra—both are essential components of modern, production-grade infrastructure,” continued Bryce. “My goal is to strengthen the connections across these communities, leveraging our shared experience and insights facilitating closer partnerships and strategic alignment across the broader open-source ecosystem.”To learn more about Bryce’s plans as Executive Director for the CNCF, please read his blog post here.
