Community Guest Post by Neependra Khare, founder of CloudYuga and CNCF Ambassador

Kubernetes Community Days (KCD) Bengaluru 2021 is the inaugural KCD event in India completely organized by the community, for the community. It was scheduled for 2020 but due to the pandemic, it had to be canceled. Instead of waiting any further, we decided to have it virtually this year and it is scheduled for 25-26th of June. The first day is completely dedicated to workshops, including workshops, for which there is a minimal fee of ~$7 to cover the logistics. The 26th will be a full day conference that is completely free for all.

The event planning was started in February and the CFP was opened on March 1. We received more than 60 proposals for the conference on various topics like Kubernetes, CI/CD, Service Mesh, Serverless, and many more. Community members reviewed the CFPs and selected around 20 of them for the conference. We made sure to select talks from a diverse group and give opportunities to first time speakers as well. The event will be a mix of 30 minute full presentations and 15 minute lighting talks or demos. Looking at the topics and speakers, I am sure this will be a great learning event for everyone. You can see the whole schedule here

As we finalized the CFPs, we reached out to Davanum Srinivas “Dims” and Janakiram MSV for giving the keynotes and both agreed. Dims’s keynote is going to cover Kubernetes Big Picture and the planning for the 1.22 release of Kubernetes. And in another Janakiram is going to cover how Kubernetes is transforming into a Universal Control Plane to take complex provisioning and scheduling challenges.

For the workshops, we invited practitioners from the community for hands-ons sessions including

Apart from above we also have a pre-event workshop to bring more contributors to Kubernetes, which is scheduled on June 24, 2021 and it is free for all.

KCD Bengaluru 21, is supported by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation. As the foundation is providing all the logistics to host and manage the virtual conference, there is very little cost to the local community to run the conference. This is very helpful and frees up a lot of time for the organizing committee.

Though technically we don’t need the money to run the event, we do have a few sponsors. The collected money will be used for swags and CNCF training vouchers for community members who find them difficult to afford. As of now we have Elastic & Microsoft Azure as our platinum sponsors and Google Cloud as one of our gold sponsors. Please consider sponsoring KCD Bengaluru to show your brand to a new set of users. You can find the sponsorship details here

We are thankful to the CNCF, our sponsors, the CFP reviews team, and our organizing team for making this event happen. We are looking forward to hosting you. You can register today here.
